Belly
Dance
Classes
Classes
are
taught
on
an
ongoing
basis.
In
the
Beginning/Intermediate
Belly
Dance
Class
you
will:
- learn
proper
posture
for
the
dance
form.
- learn
various
theories
concerning
where
this
dance
form
originated.
- learn
how
to
execute
basic
movements.
- do
basic
movements
drills.
- be
provided
with
short
combinations
to
help
you
transition
from
one
movement
to
the
next.
Requirements:
No
prior
experience
required.
Attire:
Beginning
level
students
are
required
to
have
the
following.
- Form
fitting
pants
such
as
yoga
pants.
- A
form
fitting
top
of
some
sort.
Please
no
baggy
T-shirts.
- A
hip
scarf.
If
you
would
like
to
purchase
one
of
your
own,
Taletha
will
have
them
available
at
each
class.
If
you
prefer
not
to
purchase
one
so
soon
in
your
studies,
she
will
also
have
hip
scarves
available
for
you
to
borrow.
Intermediate/Advanced
Level
Belly
Dance
Classes
Classes
are
taught
on
an
ongoing
basis.
In
the
Intermediate/Advanced
Belly
Dance
Class
you
will:
- begin
to
learn
the
basics
of
Middle
Eastern
music
interpretation
through
rhythm
identification.
- be
introduced
to
veil
work.
- be
introduced
to
the
concept
of
layering.
- be
introduced
to
basic
Raks
Al
Assaya
(Egyptian
Cane
dancing).
- begin
to
work
with
zills
(finger
cymbals).
- drill
and
combine
more
advanced
movements
such
as
turns,
undulations,
and
layered
movements.
- do
critical
thinking
exercises
to
help
you
create
your
own
combinations,
choreographies,
or
to
aid
you
in
improvisation.
- be
introduced
to
more
in
depth
concept
such
as:
stage
presence,
skills
for
performing
in
a
restaurant.
Requirements:
At
least
16
weeks
of
Beginning
Belly
Dance
classes.
Attire
and
Props:
Intermediate/Advanced
level
students
are
required
to
have
the
following:
- Form
fitting
pants
such
as
yoga
pants.
- A
form
fitting
top
of
some
sort.
Please
no
baggy
T-shirts.
- A
hip
scarf.
I
expect
Intermediate
students
to
have
a
hip
scarf
of
their
own.
- A
veil.
Veils
are
usually
3
yards
in
length
and
around
45
inches
wide.
They
can
be
either
rectangular
or
a
half
circle.
You
can
easily
make
your
own
veil
by
purchasing
a
lightweight
chiffon
or
organza
and
cutting
it
to
size.
If
you
would
like
to
purchase
a
veil,
Taletha
will
have
some
in
stock
as
often
as
possible.
